Cantonese Elementary School offers classes from Grade 1 to Grade 5. The curriculum includes stories of historical figures from ancient China and the western world. It also includes well-known Chinese proverbs with moral meanings behind them. Students will also learn about traditions and customs of Asian Festivals. Traditional festivals such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year play an important part in the program. Lesson material also includes stories of every life in North America, environmental conservation and good citizenship.
Cantonese Elementary School uses textbooks published by Mon Seong Foundation Chinese School, a very established Chinese school in Toronto, Canada. Content and level of the material is tailored for children growing up in North America.
To broaden the knowledge of our students, a 30 minute Mandarin session (free of charge to the students) is integrated into the Cantonese curriculum from Grade 2 to Grade 5. This serves to enrich the knowledge of our students by gradually introducing Mandarin Chinese.
